Love this pic, it’s the result of a load of jet lagged runners full of beans (see what I did there) at 6am in Chicago. • I’ve been quiet since Sunday, purely because I’ve been processing the race - I achieved what I wanted, but not the way I wanted. • However I thought back to March, laying on a hospital trolley told that if my ultrasound comes back with bad news I’m straight off to theatre to have my quad tendon reattached & possibly months off my feet. Fortunately it wasn’t required, I still couldn’t do leg raises, I couldn’t walk up stairs, some days I cried at my desk in pain. Sunday, I finished a marathon. • Finish was my only goal, whether it took 7, 8, 9 hours, in front or behind the sweeper bus, I was covering 26.2miles and I did, and I’m proud of myself for that. • It’s given me great focus already to look forward to @londonmarathon next April and I am already putting ideas into place to make that my best marathon yet. . . . . . . . #asicsfrontrunner #asicsfrontrunneruk #IMoveMe #run #running #runners #ukrunchat #garmin #beatyesterday #igrunners #runshots #marathon #marathontraining #londonmarathon #chicago #chicagomarathon #strava #runnersofinstagram #_loverunning #runningterritory #runnerscommunity #shokzsquad #mychicagomarathon

CHICAGO MARATHON🇺🇸. • Tough. But I got what I came here for. A medal with my birthday on. It wasn’t quick by any standards, it wasn’t pretty but it was done & that’s all that mattered to me!. • I’m proud that I didn’t give up. At 24k my legs said they didn’t want to run anymore or even work but I was so determined to see that finish line. I didn’t even consider stopping once, I knew I’d get there eventually. • I wouldn’t have done if it wasn’t for some incredibly special people in my life who messaged and phoned me on the way round. Without these I don’t know what would’ve happened @tea_runner @jevisjourney @lillybet.runs.alot @redfaced_runner @martina_cote ASICS Frontrunner teammates & my parents. • One very special person who inspires me everyday & kept me going was @kurvy86katie I couldn’t wait to call her & I found something extra for those KM’s we chatted. • I’m in a much better state than post Berlin, even if I did fall asleep when I got back to my room. 10km with @tea_runner . • That was brilliant! Left to my own devices I’d have stayed in bed complaining how sore my legs were after yesterday, but we had this run in the calendar for months & I wasn’t going to miss a chance to run with my wingman/woman!. • Although I didn’t think I’d make 5k and I’d have to send Natalie off to finish the 10k herself. But thanks to Natalie, the gorgeous trails & some energy in my legs I ran, ran perfect splits and didn’t feel tired at all. • We did run/walk but every time I asked my legs to go they went. The time flew by, thanks to the good chat. • 17 miles over 24hrs and I’m just about daring to think about next weekend, I’ve been denying its existence so far but that’s given me a ton of confidence. QUARTER MARATHON. • Yeah you read that right. RUN COMMUTE. • Not much to say about tonight’s run. Just went to test out the shin on the Physio’s recommendation.
