In other words, a dodgy hip. • But this is the one side of being a runner I hate, it isn’t just a dodgy hip, it’s missed training runs, runs with friends, races & missing out on things you’ve wanted to do since you were 7 years old (aka @londonmarathon ). • Now I’ve had a good (sulky & slightly painful) walk from work to Waterloo & I’m not going to get downbeat, yet. • Physio said that it isn’t impossible I will make London, just normally it takes two months to be pain free from whatever that post it note says. However, we have a plan of action. . - complete rest this week & only stretches and foam rolling. - gentle spin cycling & core work from next week. - repeat until pain free & we can try some small, slow runs to test it out. • It’s not impossible that in 3/4 weeks I could be ok, but that’s dependant on me doing what I’m supposed to and not being a complete idiot - two things I tend to struggle with most days 😂. • If anything, it just means my golf game is going to improve sooooo much over the next few weeks!. . . . . . #injuredrunner #runner #tendonopathy #tendonopathysucks #bursitis #hip #oldman

#AD | #throwbackthursday to the state I was in finishing my first half marathon back in October 2016. • Someone said I was using the foam roller wrong but, I can’t see any other way to use it. • I do forget the progress we’ve made & now I’m using Half Marathon as warm up for @londonmarathon . • I’ll be running the @reading_half on March 17th as part of my training. The escape from my desk. • My Tuesday (yes I know, keep reading) treadmill run has begun to be a habit, after 3 weeks it became a routine & something I started to look forward to, it was my chance to leave talk of Brexit & my phone constantly ringing behind me for an hour. • However this week it’s Wednesday and I still haven’t been. It’s been a struggle this week, I feel run-down (no pun intended) and really tired - so much so I barely left my desk yesterday apart from to just grab lunch and coffee. Chilly out there this morning!. • Last week it was dodging the mud, this week was dodging the ice, how I stayed on two feet through the Common I don’t know. • I had a good run up to about 12k then I started to hurt. My plan is giving me hard intervals Saturdays and long run Sundays so not surprising I’m finding it difficult but I need to prioritise distance over intervals. • Still happy I got out when I really didn’t want to and got my distance done, even though I took a 2k walk after my golf lesson to top it up. First month of marathon training - 79km. • I tend to shy away from these kinds of posts, however my run was a load of crap tonight and I think it’s a good check in on my first month of marathon training. • It’s been a good month, I’ve managed to find some consistency, some pace and more ability than I give myself credit for. • Actually my third biggest month in terms of distance & that’s with doing mostly just two short runs under an hour during the week and max 2hrs at the weekend. • It’s been a good start and I’m so fixated on putting another green tick on my training plan I think this first month has worked wonders in preparing me for the next 3months up to @londonmarathon . • I don’t really like doing these posts, why? Because I get that pang of guilt that I didn’t run as much as this or that person and it happened scrolling through on the train home tonight. • However, that person is not me, they’re in a different part of their training cycle, maybe training for a different distance and well, they’re (most likely) a lot fitter than me. • Whatever you achieve, be proud of that. If it’s going out and walking round the block, bloody good on you, you got over the threshold of that door. Social media will tell you that you should’ve gone round the block twice, balls to that. Look at that for a flash of red, that’s what happens when I do intervals on the treadmill, too fast even for my iPhone!. • Little lunchtime run, didn’t fancy taking it outside this evening and after seeing the weather I’m glad I didn’t. • 45mins, instead of going to the easy run on the plan I thought I’d make it interesting and do intervals instead, 1min threshold, 1min recovery. • Given the potential weather this week it looks like it won’t be the last time I hit the treadmill. . . . . . . . .

What a morning! 13km done with @harrison.sophie . • It was 13 very giggly, muddy kilometres. • I had 90mins on the plan, we both did, but somehow we ended up agreeing to do 10 miles, until we both confessed we didn’t have to do 10 this week. I struggled a lot, but I’ve done a lot of miles this week & it’s all good training on tired legs. • Another Green week on the training plan & next week IS 10miles!!! 😆. I know you’ve probably already seen this pic posted twice but I didn’t take any other pics so, here. • Nice bit of @parkrunuk tourism at #gunnersburyparkrun with the @asicsfrontrunner lads @fudgieruns & @the_running_dan and we all got our knees out!. • Felt a bit sluggish and heavy this morning, didn’t have a lot of go in my legs.
